Ballet Deconstructed

Everyone loves a good slow motion replay. We can partly thank Neo dodging bullets in The Matrix for that. Since then, slow motion action sequences have been in. If you go on Youtube, you’ll see slow motion videos of everything, including a man being hit in the face by a water balloon. Ouch.

Slow motion can demystify an action. In sports, a slow motion replay can help the referee make the right call. In this particular video, watching ballet moves in slow motion  just adds to their impressiveness. This video was actually directed by two Swiss artists. It captures the essence of ballet by slowing down the movements so you can understand the technique and skill required of these two dancers. You can also more fully appreciate the sheer beauty of their actions. At the end of the video I was pining for more and hopefully you will be too. Enjoy!
